I believe that people should be viewed holistically….that is to say, the person within their environment. Consequently, when clients work with me, we examine their lives both internally and externally. We discuss what has happened to them within (e.g. how they see themselves, what kind of symptoms they may be having, how they have learned to cope with life’s events) and outside of themselves (e.g. where they grew up and/or now live, their work, school, home lives and life experiences that have helped form who they are)…the whole package.
We all have strengths that we can access to help us cope with tough times. My job is to help clients access those strengths, to examine beliefs and behaviors that may not be working well, and to use new skills to replace those that don’t work.
I believe that you will find me personable, compassionate, open and inviting. I use humor when appropriate. And, my 30+ years of counseling provides a breadth of experiences and resources that allow me to tailor a plan to each person’s unique and personal needs.
